Performance
I have waited a long time to purchase my 814ce. At the final stretch it was down to then 814ce or the Martin D28. Both were excellent in my opinion. The final decision fell on Taylor for two reasons, electronics and sound. I know the sound is a little bright now, but as the guitar ages the tone will smooth out and the balance between strings will be even better. This is an easy guitar to play. Though the action was low enough to play I shaved the saddle down a little more to lower it some more. No buzzing or fretting out was experienced. The sound is so clean and crisp. Don’t get me wrong, the D28 was also excellent but they did not make it in a cut-away version like the Taylor. I play through a Roland AC-60 amp which really sounds nice. Most of the music I play is Christian worship and praise so this guitar works well with strumming passages as well as fingerpicking. My Shubb capo works well on it and I do not have to re-tune in different positions.

Sound Quality
A great sound through my amp. The ES System is sensitive which makes me play a little cleaner and keeps me cautious when recording especially when the guitar brushes up against my chest. It’s an adjustment for me, but may not be for others. The quality of sound still amazes me. I am so happy with this guitar God has blessed me with.

Construction

No issues, no visible flaws in workmanship and no flaws in finish. This guitar was well made. I believe as the years pass I will not see a breakdown on the workmanship and look forward to hearing the sound change as my guitar ages.
