  5. Performance

  6. This guitar is fantastic for solo fingerstyle. The sound is clear, balanced and loud with excellent presence. The instrument is highly responsive to your playing and the offset sound hole seems to project right at the player. I did the setup myself and was able to get a nice low action without any string buzz. The intonation is right on the money. This guitar is a joy to play, is beautifully crafted and is my main instrument. I have a 70’s Martin D-35 and a Taylor that are both wonderful guitars, but the C1C is my favorite.

  8. Sound Quality

  9. The tone is exactly what I was looking for, clear, responsive, sensitive to the touch, full with great sustain. It’s not like any guitar I’ve ever played and was perfect for my style of solo fingerstyle. I use alternate tunings exclusively and this guitar sings in DADGAD! The thinner body makes it easy to get your arms around and the absence of a heel at the neck joint makes it possible to play comfortably on the upper frets. This is a handmade American instrument with first-rate workmanship. I'm surprised this guitar did not cost much more, it would have been worth it! The Fishman Prefix Plus is outstanding and produces a very acoustic sound.

  11. Construction

  12. The guitar has a beautiful satin finish, unlike the glossy lacquer on my Martin. It’s probably more easily damaged, so you’ll need to be careful. It’s lighter in weight than most acoustic guitars, so you might assume that it’s fragile. After playing it every day for over a year I am convinced that it can take whatever I give it. Anyway, it’s guaranteed for life! The lower mass helps to produce a more responsive instrument. There are no pegs on the bridge. This guitar uses a unique slot design to hold the ball of the string in place. I use a small piece of rubber to keep the string secure while I attach the other end to the tuning machine. This instrument is unique in both its appearance and sound and is clearly not for everyone. I’ve been playing for 38 years (I can’t believe its been that long!) and the moment I played this guitar I knew I had found the perfect instrument for me!
